One caveat: I met someone in DR who was instant-swapping mounts, no heartbeat cooldown involved. It seems that if you are using a single key rather than a combo, a rapid double tap of the new mount's key will fast-swap you. Or may work -- I have not confirmed the method reliably myself due to needing the shift combo.
Long term, it's likely that the Blish HUD one will begin to add more and more of the features from the addon version, but there is still plenty of room for preference. Honestly, I'd recommend giving both a shot really quick and seeing which meets your needs. Both support mount queuing, the radial menu itself, default mounts when in water, and more.
JustTrogdor.7892. You will have to do at least the intro story of PoF to get your first mount, the raptor. That should be done on a L80 character and doesn't take that long. Once you unlock the raptor, and the other mounts in the future, they will be available to all of your characters from then on.

There are no mounts on a "free account" apart from the occasional mount hire for races. Well Griffon straight up costs 250 gold, but yes real money wise they’re free. There are some places in Tyria where you can rent a rollerbeetle, but other than that no, you have to buy PoF.

For fun I just went back to read some of the posts from people who said that mounts would ruin gaming as we know it. It did by reducing the number of waypoints. The mounts' increased movement speed doesn't make up for that. On the other hand the claims that people would "stop and smell the roses" does not seem to be happening. It's a blessing and a curse of the easy travel. On the one hand, it's so easy to flit around, I entirely miss the feel of the world and the size of it.
Since I unlocked both springer and raptor I wanted a flying mount. I owe both expansions but no living worlds. I accumulated 250 gold for griffon but now i have second thoughts. People say griffon has no ability to rise up in the air unless he dives and "it's only falling with style".
Skyscale is the absolute hardest mount to unlock as it requires farming currencies from 6 maps, there are time gates, and completion of a multiple parts of the story. But while it is the most time consuming it is absolutely worth it. Kiroho. • 1 yr. ago.
