There were a couple of significant 6.2 related changes made for MY2016 and MY2017: 1) MY2016: Engine oil spec changed from 5W-20 to 5W-30. 2) MY2017: Torque spec improved from 405 lbs.-ft @ 4500 rpm to 430 @ 3800. 3) MY2017: 6.2 still mated with the legacy 6R140 AT in the TheFord Ranger 3.2 Diesel Engine problems range from any of the following. Intake Pipe cracks causing the engine to go into limp mode and lose power. The Oil Pump will not prime if the oil is left to drain for longer than 10 minutes which could result in catastrophic engine failure. Crank Position Sensor failure causes the engine to shut Personallyas I work for a mazda and honda dealership, I can compare the two. Obviously the honda 2.2 is better.
